Medicare Preventive Services

Medicare pays for many services, including some that you need even when you're healthy.  For more information about Medicare covered services, visit www.medicare.gov or download a copy of a Guide to Medicare's Preventive Services. Some of these services include:

  • One-time "Welcome to Medicare" physical exam.
  • Cardiovascular screening.
  • Cancer tests:
    • Breast cancer screening (mammograms).
    • Cervical and vaginal cancer screening (Pap test and pelvic exam).
    • Colon cancer screening (fecal occult blood test, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy).
    • Prostate cancer screening (prostate specific antigen or PSA test).
  • Shots:
    • Flu.
    • Pneumococcal.
    • Hepatitis.
  • Bone mass measurements to detect osteoporosis.
  • Diabetes screening, supplies and self management training.
  • Glaucoma test.
  • Other health information:
    • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
    • Depression.
